SD High Steppers Drill Team

Twenty years and over 800 students later, the High Steppers Drill Team Inc., is a non-profit organization which continues to serve as a close order drill, step and dance collective serving the youth of Southern California.  

Military Drill techniques, Sorority Step Dance routines, African Boot Dance, Ballroom, Line and Praise Dances are just a  few of the classes offered.  Educational partnerships and enrichment programs related to physical as well as mental, emotional health are intertwined with drill, step and dance instruction.  Classes are open to the public regardless of drill, step, and dance experience, or ability to pay.

Our prior students have consistently graduated from high school at a higher rate than non-participants.  College admission numbers are also above the regional average.

Our main program is our Drill Team, which utilizes the art of military drill technique, dance and step routines for city and statewide competitions.  The High Steppers Drill Team supports youth, ages 5-17, by exposing them to educationally enriched and supportive environments, which enable them to develope positive self-esteem and healthy behaviors to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

The High Stepppers Drill Team provides a multitude of wraparound services, and programs from academic and tutoring services, health education, drug education and violence prevention.

Holistic programming equips our participants with the tools needed to make good decisions, think critically and be supported in all aspects of their lives.
